Flateyri, ICELAND, 2005 - The new petrol station of Flateyri. In October 1995 the inhabitants of Flateyri were caught in a big avalanche which crushed half of the village and killed 16 people. The petrol station was also destroyed. The village is now protected by a high wall of sand designed to stop a possible new avalanche.
